Eldora Children’s Center is a state-licensed, nonprofit child care center in Eldora, Iowa. Since opening in 2006, we’ve proudly served over 400 families from 9 different communities—and we currently care for 70 children from 40 families each year.

In June 2025, we've embarked on a major three-phase project to relocate and renovate a new permanent home for Eldora Children's Center in the heart of Eldora at 1025 11th Avenue.  

Project Overview:

• Phase 1 – Code Compliance & Interior Renovation ($200,000):
  Focused on meeting all state child care licensing requirements, including adding emergency exits, restrooms, accessible entrances, and a commercial kitchen.

• Phase 2 – Outdoor Play & Access ($56,500):
  Involves relocating and resurfacing the playground, as well as building a safe, accessible stairway connecting the facility to 11th Avenue for easier drop-off and pick-up access.

• Phase 3 – Parking Lot Construction ($45,000):
  Will provide a dedicated parking to significantly improve daily safety for children, families, and staff.

Total Project Budget: $350,000

Thanks to the generosity of local businesses, grants, and individual supporters, we’ve already raised $200,000—but we still need your help to cross the finish line.

​​​​​​Hardin County is considered a child care desert, with 62% fewer child care programs in 2023 than in 2018 (Child Care Resource & Referral). Projects like ours ensure families can access quality care - and help retain young families, support working parents, and grow the local workforce.
